Handaxes are good all-round axes, for performing a variety of timbercraft skills.
Usage
While it is not the best for any one action, they are good for all of them, and no significant time penalty will be suffered when using one. During the "Watercourse" part of the Living in the Wild course, the player will receive a handaxe. There are two version of handaxe in-game. Both are identical only with blunt and point different. Edge is always the same.

Real life context
Handaxes are small, multipurpose axes, somewhat similar in function to a modern camping of firewood-chopping hatchet, but larger and with different details. Unlike the curvier shape of hatchet handles, most traditional handaxes had simpler, straighter and often slightly lengthier handles.
