Torches can be crafted from 10 branches using the timbercraft skill [M-u-7]. This process requires no tools. They can be useful in cave exploration. It is likely that making torches does not train any skill at all.
To light a torch stand next to a fire and [a]pply the torch with the fire. A torch may be put out and conserved by using [a]pply as well. A torch weighs 1 lb.
Lit torches can neither be dropped nor thrown.
