In the modern world, these creatures are best known as the beasts pulling Santa's sleigh. However, before Santa moved to Finnish Lapland, sometime during the Middle Ages in Finland, these beasts were known to be stone cold killers, kicking to death those who got too close. It is believed, that only the powerful magic known to the northern tribes kept the bloodlust of these beasts in check and, with the help of that magic, they had also tamed these beasts and would unleash them to turn any would be raiders into a bloody pulp.

With the arrival of Christianity to Finland during the Middle Ages, the knowledge of the old spells began to fade and the beasts started to return to their natural bloodthirsty habits. In order to pacify these beasts once and for all, the jolliest badass of all time, Santa Claus, was summoned to Finland. He wrestled all the reindeer into submission and chose the most unruly ones for his own herd to be kept under his watchful eye near his Korvatunturi residence. The remaining reindeer, now wrestled into submission, he gave as a gift to the northern tribes as a thank you for keeping the beasts' temper at bay for centuries. Santa's pacification of the reindeer is still remembered today and celebrated by giving gifts in late December each year.
