Small deadfall traps have primitive wooden lids made of slender tree trunks and some stones on the top of them to make them heavier. The lid is held up with an upright stick with a bait tied to it. When the prey pulls the bait, the lid will drop on it. Small deadfall traps are used to catch foxes, gluttons, badgers, and other small fur-bearing animals.
