A raft is a very heavy boat (80 lbs). It is made from 3 tree trunks tied together with 3 pieces of tying equipment. If available, the use of a punt is preferred. You can use a sesta (or shovel) to push your raft, but only a paddle can traverse deeper water. Rafts can be used to transport heavy materials such as logs along water. Though possessing great weight capacity, a raft can only hold at most 40 stacks of non-corpse items plus any amount of corpses up to the weight limit.

To use the raft, equip either a paddle or a sesta. A shovel works for this as well. With one of these items equipped, step onto the raft, and move into a water square.

Note: The raft should be on a land square when you first step on to it.

Tip:

  • The contents of a watercraft are listed when stepping onto one which is visible, possible requiring several presses of the spacebar upon every boarding. This can be avoided by facing away from the watercraft and backing onto it.
  • Watercraft cannot land on land which is already occupied by an item. It can be helpful to make use of the [;] key, which allows you to pickup items adjacent (including diagonal) to your current location, thereby clearing the desired landing. Furthermore, by doing this you can avoid having to step off your watercraft when grabbing items up to two spaces away. This can be especially useful for collecting stones, food from cellars, etc.
  • Maximum load a raft can support is about 16000 lbs.
  • Do not upack/drop raft over items or pick up a raft with items on it, as this will delete the items.(bug?)

Update V3.18 Jan 7th 2014 Raft holds up to 15 800lbs

  • My Raft held up to 15800 lbs and moved, at 15820lbs it would not (note I was carrying 308lbs)
