Berries are edible plants that can be found and gathered. When harvested they yield one or more fistfuls of berries from each plant. While berries are easy to gather and will quickly fill a player's stomach, the nutrition provided is deceptively low. In practice cloudberries are the only berry that can be effectively used as a primary food source when eaten raw.

Strawberries and black currants, and to a lesser extent blueberries, lingonberries and crowberries can be eaten raw to stave off starvation. However as picking time accords to berry size not weight, most of the player's time will be spent picking these smaller berries leaving little time to solve the bigger problem of starvation. Raspberries are larger and thus may be picked faster, but cannot be eaten fast enough raw to prevent slow starvation.
