Pine martens are quite uncommon animals to encounter. They are not aggressive, and tend to run away when you see them. 

Skinning them gives a hide >1 lbs, which [[Hideworking (Skill)#Tanning|tans]] into [[Fur|fur]]. This fur is quite valuable to [[Foreign traders|foreign traders]].

They have been observed stealing from player [[cellar]]s and will make multiple attempts even after being chased away.
