Black ear mushrooms start to sprout in Swidden month (April) and grow for 60 days so they can be picked from Fallow (June) until Hay (July) when they start to wither.
They are deadly poisonous but safe to eat after boiling. If you anyhow decide to eat one raw and wish to survive, ask a sage or a shaman to heal you and pray.
