Skiing is a physical skill that governs the effective use of skis and ski sticks to move swiftly and efficiently across snow-covered terrain, helping to reduce fatigue and improve winter mobility.
Skiing is among the easiest skills to train, increasing rapidly with use — often improving daily during winter months. It is essential for winter survival and travel.

Usage
To begin skiing:
- Use the [a]pply command to put on skis. (You do not need to wield them.)
- Wield a ski stick or northern spear in either hand.
- Movement will now automatically use the Skiing skill.
- Your current skiing speed appears in the top-right corner of the screen.
Benefits
Since version 3.20, skiing plays a much larger role in character movement and fatigue management:
- Walking in snow is ~20% slower than skiing and causes more fatigue.
- Skiing is always faster and less tiring than walking through snow.
- The Skiing skill level determines how much fatigue is generated — higher skill means lower fatigue.
- With a high skill level, fatigue gain can be nearly eliminated while skiing.
- Skill progression is fast — frequent skiing during winter yields rapid improvement.
Tips
- Practice daily in winter for consistent gains.
- Equip skis before long-distance travel in snow-covered regions.
- A northern spear can double as a weapon and ski stick, freeing inventory space.
