Conversation or chat of the player character with NPCs (non-player characters) form a social and diplomatic aspect of the gameplay interactions in the UnReal World.
The player character can converse with various NPCs, particularly those from local settlements. These include peasants, hunters, craftsmen, sages or shamans, foreign traders, and so on. Players can converse with male and female locals, and even children.
Various characters will have varying levels of interest and willingness to provide the player character with travel advice, hunting advice, barter trade offers, etc.
Usage
- G Greet and ask about recent events in a settlement
- A Ask for directions to another settlement, water supply or knowledge of nearby caves
- C Command a companion to perform a particular task
- H Ask the other party to help you as temporary follower, or inquire about their skills
- D Deliver an item, either as part of a quest, as payment for their work, or as a gift
- T Initiate trading of items by bartering
- B Ask to buy an animal from the settlement
In addition to above inquiries, conversations are necessary to receiving new quests, including advice on the procedure and collecting the reward once the quest is completed. Sometimes an NPC will be the party to initiate conversation with the player. They may offer a quest in this way, or approach the player about their wrong-doing in their lands e.g. damaging or taking their property without permission.
