After a [[bear]] is ''brought down'', its skull must be hanged on a lone, mature [[pine]] [[tree]] by dropping the skull on ground and then pushing it up the tree. Failing to complete this most crucial of rituals is a certain way to anger the bear spirit and invite ill luck.

In another spell, [[carrying bear teeth to find hares and birds]] requires gathering bear's teeth from the skull before leaving it in the tree.
