At least it didn't use to require any special code to access it. Did this change or is there a hiccup somewhere?

The access code for this release is urwversion385beta

It is there on the Steam page, but yeah it could be clearer

Yep, it needs that access code.
Most often we've released Steam betas this way, the access codes always being mentioned in the release posts.
