Do robbers stay around?

For how long do the robbers from the "There be robbers" scenario stay around?

Do they make camp like the quest ones after robbing you?

No, they stay around for a fair while, but they don't build a camp (I've encountered the starting robbers from a spring start mid-late summer, after finally making it off the tiny island they dumped my PC on).
