Yrkki is doing some crafting with a burning shingle lit. It says he sets a new shingle burning. He continues crafting. I notice it's taking quite a while for him to replace the new burning shingle, it stays lit for several hours:

Code: [Select]
(000000):h2jm:[O]{07CE03BE}      | Ok, you have all the necessary equipment!
(3C5A98):h2jn:[:]{07CE03BE}      | The snowing eases a bit.
(AB5700):h2jn:[+]{07CE03BE}      | Light of the shingle is fading.
(AB5700):h2jn:[+]{07CE03BE}      | Shingle has burnt out.
(575757):h2jn:[_]{07CE03BE}      | You set a new shingle burning.
(3C5A98):i2j0:[:]{07CE03BE}      | The snowing ceases.
(008000):i2j5:[=]{07CE03BE}      | Ok, you set and leave a decent expanded log hull here to prepare.

Once his crafting is complete, I look at the tile to see what is going on:

Code: [Select]
(143270):i2j5:[#]{07CE03BE}      | Things that are there:
(000000):i2j5:[c]{07CE03BE}      | clay kiln
(000000):i2j5:[7]{07CE03BE}      | 7 fine boards
(000000):i2j5:[6]{07CE03BE}      | 6 slender tree trunks
(000000):i2j5:[s]{07CE03BE}      | stone
(000000):i2j5:[4]{07CE03BE}      | 42 wooden stakes
(000000):i2j5:[1]{07CE03BE}      | 167 clay lumps
(000000):i2j5:[4]{07CE03BE}      | 439 shingles
(000000):i2j5:[1]{07CE03BE}      | 10 inferior shingles
(000000):i2j5:[6]{07CE03BE}      | 6 rocks
(000000):i2j5:[8]{07CE03BE}      | 8 blocks of wood
(000000):i2j5:[7]{07CE03BE}      | 7 blocks of pine wood
(000000):i2j5:[b]{07CE03BE}      | big female dog called Brianne (leashed)
(000000):i2j5:[3]{07CE03BE}      | 38 firewoods
(000000):i2j5:[b]{07CE03BE}      | burning fine set for gaming

He lit a different item on fire by mistake! As it happens, I don't care about the loss of this item, but it looks like a bug. I'm can provide a save of Yrkki.

Here is the code for the set for gaming that is burning, and for the things it is made of:

Code: [Select]

This just happened again with a different character, Aaro, this time in a village with my sanding tool which was adjacent to the village's supply of shingles.

My sanding tool is also a Sesta under the hood...

Code: [Select]
.Sanding tool. "Sesta" [effort:1] [phys:arms,one-armed]  *CARPENTRY* /30/ |-2| %5% [noquality]
{Stone} [remove] [ground]
{Leather} #1# [remove] '+leather pieces'
{Thin cordage} =6= [remove] [ground]
//'+to tie pieces'
{Knife} <Small knife> 'Small knife'
[TYPE:tool]
[MATERIAL:wood]
[WEIGHT:15.0]
[PRICE:0.3]
[TILEGFX:bc-whetstone]

Aaro's going to keep playing, we'll see if the sanding tool stays burning forever or if it goes out.

Update: Once i picked up the sanding tool, it cannot be dropped: "You cannot drop the burning sanding tool while it is in use."

The burning sanding tool does not function as a torch when I tried to take it into a cave; the moon is too bright to check that at night but I expect that will be the same. I cannot put it out by applying it; it gets wielded instead because it's a sesta.

It is still burning 5 days later, so i think it shall burn forever, but I must put it aside for the night.

Does it weight (#15#) according to the recipe?
Does it work as a torch to light up a fire?

It does weigh 6.8kg, which is 15lb. I'm not at the computer right now but I am pretty sure I would have noticed if I got a message about it helping me light a fire, and I think it didn't.

Confirmed: It does not work as a torch to light up a fire.

When I have some time I want to check a vanilla sesta next to some shingles

Over a month later, it's still marked as burning. I think burning is just a string that is added to the sesta, but it's not burning in any functional sense

I created a test character just for this. I haven’t pushed it on clock at all.

My guess is a memory/storage overflow.

And my personal preference re:modded items; none really should use sesta as base item. Apply feature goofiness et cetera. I personally use wood slat (there’s no recipe to auto select slats) or for some items I like hunting horn for the “produce a fancy sound”

It appears that shingles mistakenly had the same internal identification tag than sestas, so the game simply that thought sestas are shingles - regardless of their other variables.
And naturally, wherever the sesta is base item for modded items, the internal identification persists and the modded items are also considered as shingles whenever shingle mechanics come in to play.

[Fixed - persists in 3.85.]
