I wonder what the devs & players think about xotto's mod and implementing that as it stands (or perhaps a toned up/down variation of it), in the vanilla game hence this discussion thread...

Below is the link to the mod release thread, which includes screenshots showing BEFORE & AFTER comparison visually:

It probably would make sense to even make it a configuration option such as "Precipitation Visualization: Low/Medium/High" or similar.
This could be a good day to utilize your squirrels hides.

It can be nigh impossible to see anything in-game when it really comes down. But then, when it rains sideways or it's total white-out / blizzard, you don't really see anything in real life either.

So as long as the suggestion would be a customizable setting, I can see it beneficial.

Perhaps the weather system might have a light or heavy rate for rain or snow. Most rain is wet but viewable through. If the winds (do we have those modelled?) are really heavy then the existing dense format is used.

One way to do winds would be to check if there was a large change in temperature in the past 2? 8? 12? 24? hours.

Overall its is pretty thick. It does also inspire to think of the crap the character is in.
