There are two ways:
1. The "normal" way is to tan fur less hides, such as those from birds (lots of them!) and wild boar.
2. The "large amounts 'quickly'" way is to dehair hides. It takes some time and timing may be fiddly, especially when it's hot, as waiting too long may result in rot.
