When possible, I've incorporated trees in my fences. I do so under the expectation that, since I cannot traverse through trees, wild animals/intruders are unable to pass through them. Is this logic sound?

1) Squirrels can climb trees.
2) lynxes and foxes can pass through the parts of the barrier which are fences. I dunno if lynxes can "pass thru" trees.
3) bears can knock down fences.
4) the barrier you described is only wolf, elk, and reindeer proof afaik.

Birds can pass through trees (and have no problem passing fences either).

I believe wolves can jump over fences (at least they can get in when attacking penned animals in villages), but they seem to prefer to go through the "openings" in trap fences where you've got your traps. It may well be that they only pass over/through fences if they're attacking something, though.

While bears can knock down fences (and open doors) I suspect they only do so when attacking something: I've caught quite a few bears in trap fence traps, but never had a fence smashed except in the process of me attacking a trapped bear.

I've been suspicious that large animals may be able to pass through spruces, because they seem to do it occasionally when chasing them. But I have no proof. I'm interested to know the truth on this... sort of. Many things that are uncertain in the game are part of the greatness of it, and I don't want to know all the secrets. Discussion of what can go through/over fences has been ongoing for ever, but trees... I don't remember a definite conclusion.

I have seen lynx and gluttons waltz right through my fences, bypassing tons of traps which I've set for them in the area. I can't say that I've seen them ghosting between adjacent trees.

I've never seen this happen. I've also decently often chased animals into my trap fences, and every time this has happened they've stuck in a trap, i.e. run along the fence, found a gap, and got caught in the trap in the gap. So, they haven't run through spruce trees.

Sometimes it seems the game will, when I zoom into a tile, drop me on top of a tree. The way I noticed this is that when I'm hunting, when I get zoomed in I drop all my non-combat items, leave a map marker, and then go on my hunt unencumbered. When I go back to my pile of goods, it may be on the same tile as a tree, despite me not pushing it into a tree. So, it probably means that I didn't notice that as I zoomed in, I was placed on a tree.
