Is this a good starting character?

Im fairly new at the game and I wanted a good character to learn the game with, would you recommend this character?

It's a very good character. A huge maximum strength character can wear a lot of armor without getting slowed down and carry a lot of stuff (to move them around) without having to resort to dragging as much.
Just remember that you may have to adopt your tactics when shifting to weaker characters later on, so you may start some bad habits if you're not careful.
