Do the animals just roam around randomly? Surely they have a nest/lair that they return to?

I know bears can be found in caves in winter, but how about wolves, for instance? I have never come across a wolf den...

I'm just thinking that as a hunter, I would get rid of any competition. If I see wolves, I want to track them to the lair and exterminate the whole pack.

No, I don't think they have lairs.

I know for the quests with a bear they will lurk in the area a time.

I have no idea if the randomly generated bears will have a home base assigned

If you mean the wounded adventurer quest, yes, the beast will usually remain in the area for some time, but so will other animals. If you've seen an animal in an area, they tend to remain in that general area for quite some time (unless you kill it, of course) before disappearing. This is also the reason building a bear trap close to where you found a bear actually has a chance catching it: if it just roamed around randomly it would be gone by the time you've finished building the trap...

Ogres are of limited interest in UrW, as they're non existent there.
