I was reading through some old news.txt entries, and saw that in 3.17 it was added

Code: [Select]
        1. Now you can remove skis also by [T]ake off command.
        2. Now you can't ski while crawling.
        3. Now you can't ski without ski stick.

But I can crawl while skiing. The picture and text shows me as skiing, the message log fills up with

Quote
You crawl.
You ski.
You crawl.
You ski.
[...]

My speed while crawl-skiing reduces fom 4km/hour to 1 km/hour. If I take off my skis, then my walking speed is 1km/hour and my crawling speed is 0 km/hour.

I’m certain that either in the in-game encyclopedia or on these very forums, there’s been mention of seal skiing technique where the hunter lays down on an oversized ski, even bigger than Lyly (which is the larger of the ingame skis, at ~3m/10’) and crawls to the unsuspecting seal to get clubbed.

As for the bug, I feel that the news.txt might be erroneous here. We’ll see what the Elks degree. ???

I don't really have an opinion about whether it should be disallowed, but if it's left in the game, the speed should be reduced.

This is fixed now. Now the crawling character with skis keeps only crawling, with the crawling speed.

Fixed - persists in 3.84.2

It can be mentioned that one case where you'd definitely want to crawl with skis is when you're trying to recover a large animal who's drowned after going through the thin ice. In that case you want to spread out your weight over as large an area as possible (after having dropped off all excess weight at the shore, optionally with a fire going if you fall through anyway).
