Sami-folk / Tribes tended to bury their dead in stone mounds, often wrapped in birchbark.
In the southern parts of the North, dead were sometimes cremated. Sometimes buried in ground, sometimes in stone mounds, and often people that were hostile, buried in bogs.

One of my characters disposed a gang of 4 vagabond robbers, and as he went to bury them the following night, found the remains to... float. (if needed, some tying equipment and stone should help with submersing)

Suggestion, allow varied burial types for deceased.
1) pushing or throwing remains in water in open mire and pine mire to be "buried in bog" similar to metal items.
2) add tile-gfx for burial mound, constructed with remains and 15-20-ish stones *
3) adding items in dug pit, then filling the pit; leave the items in the ground, not pop-up on the surface
Cremation/burning remains already works

* adding some mounds in proximity to villages would add touch of realism, deepen immersion. And in case of hired help dying, carrying, or dragging the remains back to their home village could allow proper burial.

Burying dead - nice idea, hope this gets implemented!

I can think of suggesting more player actions on dead bodies (especially for robbers & njerpez) but one at a time :)
This could be a good day to utilize your squirrels hides.

yeah I have a history of respecting dead Nerjpez

but even burning three (3) tree trunks on them and still finding their corpse later.

Id like a way of disposing of corpses

Could also be a way for dealing with rotted animal corpses. They have to be burned in fires right now but being smaller its normally not a huge problem.

Seems odd*, 3 trunks should burn for better part of entire day.
I cremated 4robbers with 30-ish branches, while realizing it was nowhere near enough, fell young pine and shunted 3 of the 4 slender trunk in the pyre. Less than 1h later the remains of all 4 were gone. Teppo made a “spirited javelin” turning the 4th slender trunk into staff and hardening it into spear... in the funeral pyre. Afraid of the spirits’ selfness coming to haunt the spear, Teppo lobbed the javelin in the fire after the remains were consumed.

*unless you zoomed out, then it does make sense: Fires tend to die out prematurely without character’s presence.

Yes, you have to stay around for funeral pyres to actually incinerate the bodies, which is unfortunate.

I think these could be modded in? Something like:
Code: [Select]
.Hill. "Burial Mound" [effort:3] [phys:stance,one-armed] *BUILDING* /1h/ |+2|
{*Dead*} [remove] '+corpse to be buried'
{Stone} (10) [remove] [ground] '+for mound'
