Happened to me, was solved by changing the window settings a few times and restarting the game, eventually it got fixed.
Final settings where resizing is OK: fullscreen yes + logical resize yes.

Lots of berries (as emergency but mostly as bait), lever traps, all good mushrooms you can recognise. Make simple stuff and trade it for food, which is usually cheap enough. Throw stones at squirrels which are free food. Make stone knives until you have a decent one.

I've also had some difficulty, 5 koivu bois dead in a couple of days, but I've gotten to a good space with the next one. It's a bit like another game altogether  ;D

In MacOS, to access the F-keys you need to use Fn+Fx. By default, the F-keys are bound to special behaviours (like brightness etc).

This can easily be changed to match the behaviour on Windows/Linux laptops:

Select "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys".

Would villages process their raw hemp and nettle too? If so, it could be interesting to tie the final fibre stock in a village, to its rate of clothing production (chance of finding a nettle/linen clothing item).

In this way, a player might actually go to villages around, selling or gifting them fibres and getting a new wardrobe next season :P

What if you smoke meat in a village sauna building? They light the fireplace pretty much every day. Would that be tracked and allow the smoked meat process to succeed?

I'm not completely sure, but I think you can't smoke food in a sauna anymore (just like you cannot pour water on the normal fireplace, to bathe).

Well, the refrigeration bonus starts immediately, that's the only advantage - but it's not a small one if you are not often at your homestead. I always dry in the cellar.
