This is the first time I see a claim that leashed animals affect your skills. A well trained dog shouldn't affect the skills, but a poorly trained one certainly could. When fighting Njerps I have the dog leashed and fire arrows at the enemy, as I don't want the dog (or my character) to get hurt, and I usually manage to keep the distance to kill the enemy without getting in danger. Oh yeah, it's a rare occurence but the wolves and lynxes will kill cows if they're hungry. This happens especially in spring. You can reduce this by building traps around the cow pens, so that hopefully the predators will be distracted and get caught in the trap. That's not a 100% solution but sometimes it works. I also leash some dogs so that they are in range of the cows, if a predator shows up the dogs will aggro on them and hopefully scare them away.

Thx for this. Fence will only block bears, pits will trap bears, lynx, wolf and glutton are to small to fall in pits and can get over, under or through fence. Deadfall traps are the best to trap these types. Placing dogs insode with livestock is the next good line of defense. As to feeding; place a pile of raw meat/fish and bones inside the enclosure, tell dog(s) to eat and they will continue to eat from that spot when hungry. I think that an interesting thing will be that the random njerpez encounters were like robbers encounters. Numerous njerpez warriors instead of just one, that will be tough and will answer the question of 'why are njerpez here?' Well, it's a raiding party, an exploration party, robbers, etc.

Roleplaying
So considering that roleplaying is always more fun way to play games such as these one, I was wondering what are you guys doing when roleplaying? Heres the few ideas from me, When I smoke meat in some village I always leave part of meat as payment for giving me access to their fireplace, I like also befriending some village give them gifts, trade etc. When I sacrifice I try to find some nice place to do it, No hunting or sparing of Calfs, Respecting the prey- I try not to just throw the meat I consider all life precious so If I can't smoke it, trade it, I gift it, And in general when I play I try to give meaning to my character life and things he does, so not just random walking, hunting just for sake of it. I like giving gifts to Sages and make sure I greet each of the craftspeople as well as a way to earn the right to trade. I have rituals for the non-ritual items: Reindeer antlers have to be scattered in a grove. Seal skulls have to placed on a rock in the sea or river. Elk antlers have to placed in a cave. Re: Who were "Njerpez" ?
The folk etymology I've taken up for the name breaks it down into нерпа + -ец = people of the ringed seal (genus Pusa), where the Russian word нерпа is cognate with Finnish norppa (species Pusa hispida). It's a bit funny, seeing that Seal-Tribe territory is on the opposite end of the map! But I suppose there's no direct real world analogue for the njerpezit. August 08, 2020, 10:53:51 PM |
