Video Ambiance Companion for UrW -- Swedish Elk/Moose Migration So this is a bit silly, but I wanted to post in case anyone else enjoyed this as much as I do.

I love UnReal World of course -- it's great and makes you feel like you're really there.      A couple of years ago, I randomly stumbled upon a Swedish public access stream on twitch -- a stream of their yearly Elk/moose migration across a river in Spring.

If you have a second monitor, it is the perfect pairing for a session of UnReal World.    It's very relaxed and slow paced -- it's a bunch of cameras set up 24/7 during the season -- so you get a lot of laid back time with just Swedish nature noises and wildlife, in addition to quite a few nice Elk sightings as well.

It's obviously Sweden and not Finland, but there are scenes that coincidentally wound up as a more or less 1:1 construction of what I was doing in UrW at a time.   A video of a pine mire filled with grouse with the ambient noise combined with actually hunting grouse in a pine mire in UnReal world just feels really good.

Luckily they record these sessions and upload them on their website -- link to one of the videos below:

https://www.svtplay.se/video/jm3p9NY/den-stora-algvandringen/ons-11-maj-00-00?id=jm3p9NY&position=20913

(I can't hyper link as this is a new account -- I hope it's okay to include this here!  just paste that in and you're off to the Swedish wilderness)

They have well over a hundred hours of this stuff, and it's perfect to set the mood for this game.

3.72 hotfix patch #1 for Windows released Hotfix patch for Windows has been released to address the following issues. The patch is now live on Steam, Itch.Io and at Lifetimers section.

Version 3.72 (patch #1)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- fixed: audio issues

On some systems audio got played wrong, and the audio loading failures also made the game crash prone. The issues were linked to SDL_mixer version in use we've now reverted back to using SDL_mixer 2.0.4.

- fixed: character portrait being shown in message log screen
- fixed: character portrait not showing up after using encyclopedia in skills menu
- fixed: arrows picked from villages not tagged as unpaid

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you had trouble running with 3.72 due to audio problems we dearly hope this patch fixes them for you and for all - and for good.

And hey, if this patch brings you from the unfortunate muffled and crash prone audio league back into proper stable UnReal World again let us know!

Cheers!

Re: Muffled sound, screeching sound 3.72 patch #1 was released last night, audio should be fixed, but we're eager to confirm it.

Re: Let us automatically use tools carried by leashed animals
Same with having to equip a paddle that you are already carrying before you can punt or raft.
I'm wondering if paddle could be attached to punt or raft. That will save a lot of effort from equipping/unequipping paddle or packing/unpacking it from the pack animal

Re: question about diagonal distance There is a post https://www.unrealworld.fi/forums/index.php?topic=6353.msg18430#msg18430 by Erkka that seems to explain the diagonal distance thing, which is different when moving or using a weapon.

Re: [Info] [3.72][3.71] Cheat Engine Addresses Hi Rudy!

Thanks for the update. It looks correct now!

A bit off topic but probably helpful for further table improvement:
I have tinkered around a bit with the hex editor and I was successful in replacing items. Compare two files: 1) NAME.OBJ (your character) and 2) CONSTANT.OBJ in the game's folder. Not all values are available - meat cuts, leather etc. are missing.

An item hex code is something like this:

(fur mittens)

02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 46 75 72 20 6D 69 74 74 65 6E 73 00 73 74 72 69 6E 67 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 74 75 6E 74 65 6D 61 74 6F 6E 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 61 72 2D 6D 69 74 74 65 6E 73 00 00 00 00 54 00 00 00 C0 41 05 03 02 03 02 05 00 00 00 00 80 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 3F 00 00 80 3F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

It starts 9 cells before the string name, so be careful when copying/pasting the hex values. I was able to find quality with *fine* value being 84, 7th cell from the end.

EDIT: playing around with it I found 82 being *rough*, 83 normal, 84 *fine* and 85 *masterwork*.

I did stumble on some obstacles, e.g. I am unsure how to enter meat cuts. Equipment items are 172 bytes long but meat cutes are 344 bytes long (I think).

I believe Night promised to share quality editing using hex code but I did not find that thread.

By knowing the proper byte array I was able to change the item + quality in the game. Otherwise I have to edit my character's NAME.OBJ using Cheat Engine's memory editor.

Re: Active Fishing attempt results in, "You should find a better spot! ..." message @ineedcords no luck with the map I was playing, so I started a new game and tried to pick a location which looked to be near river areas (though it is hard to differentiate lakes vs. rivers on the starting location screen).  Once in game I was able to try a number of locations and this time hit a valid fishing spot fairly quickly.  Thanks again for the reply and help!

Re: [Info] [3.72][3.71] Cheat Engine Addresses Hey all,

I found a way to exploit hex codes to make items you need. One weird thing I found out is that when you change an item type even if you drop an item, it will change. So, a quick and dirty workaround is to create stone knives. Stone knife is the easiest item to manufacture, requiring 1+1 rocks (1 rock to polish a rock to be spent). You find that rock's byte array using cheat engine and then you change it to a masterwork item of your choice.

Stone knife (normal quality) hex code:

01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 53 74 6F 6E 65 20 6B 6E 69 66 65 00 73 74 72 69 6E 67 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 4B 4E 49 46 45 00 61 74 6F 6E 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 77 70 2D 73 74 6E 6B 6E 69 66 65 00 00 00 46 00 00 00 00 00 C8 01 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 53 89 29 3F 53 89 29 3F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 83 00 01 00 00 00 00

search that using Scan Type:Search for this array

You replace that with a hex code of an item that interests you, which you can find using a memory view panel searching for a string of your choice (e.g. "broad axe"). Here is a key, the search Array to scan starting address has to be anything from 05600000, and the byte length has to be 172 bytes starting 9 bytes before the string (e.g. "Broad axe.lestring*").

Try this out and see if it works.

I am attaching an xlsx+ods files with the items I found using hex codes.
Check it out.

Re: How to get early game food supply since fishing nerf Preliminary results, average amount of fish gained per fishing attempt with high skill (90)  and a fishing rod with iron hook

No bait: 30 grams, 100 trials
berries: 430 grams, 56 trials
mushroom: 480 grams, 100 trials
leaves: 520 grams, 28 trials
roots: 670 grams, 47 trials
flowers: 620 grams, 100 trials
raw fish: 1.48 kg, 100 trials
raw meat: 1.98 kg, 100 trials

i haven't tested roasted/dried/smoked fish/meat or bread in a systematic way yet but anecdotally cooked fish/meat seems to work well too.

Re: [Tool] WhereIsMyRobber - a "Homeland Robbers" tedium remedy I'm bumping this, first, to confirm for others that it still works, some 2+ years later. And, second, because it's an invaluable tool that newer players should be aware of.
